World cup cricket 2017 – Semis

I haven’t seen a more interesting cricket match in the recent years. True, it has been years since I have stopped watching cricket actively, but have always followed what’s happening in the cricket world. Well, the match isn’t over yet but it is worth all the applause it is getting. Never did i expect that a women’s cricket match would make me go all crazy about cricket and i would end up writing a post about it.

Yes, i am talking about a women’s cricket match. Why would i not. It is a world cup semi-final match between India and the defending champions Australia. India scored 280 in their first innings in just 42 overs with Harman Preet Kaur scoring 170 plus not out. Trust me, it is just not about the numbers. It is the adrenaline rush the match is giving. Just had to wait out the sluggish intial overs in the 1st innings and then it is a treat. I can now proudly say that I have watched one awesome innings in the history of cricket. I sure have tonnes of regrets missing many a wonderful matches in this veey short 28 year old life time but this is match is a medicine that eases out all those regretful days.

Somewhere within, i am a little bit proud that this is a women’s match that I am raving so much about. To hell with fairness, i am happy and proud that i am seeing a women’s cricket match on TV with all the commercials and commentary like a proper cricket match in a stadium filled with a decent crowd. I know 2nd innings is boring when it is the opposite team chasing but still this match wants me to watch. It reminds me of the 2015 men’s world cup semi-final where India lost to Australia chasing a 300 plus target.

I am not much inclined to the technicalities of the game as i never really played cricket and is just an ardent fan and supporter. So, I’ll spare you the technical details of the match and ask you to just turn on your tv and watch this match. No matter who wins, women are the winners and India already won my heart with the batting and bowling untill now. If India took over Australia today, it is history for Indian cricket. Taking over such a team is just something amazing. I just wish that one day, in my country called India, where cricket is a religion, it becomes common for a woman to come out and play cricket on the street and be taken seriously by the people around.

I’m yawning and dying to sleep but just struggling tostay awake untik the match ends. Hope you all like it as much as I can.

A conversation from “Castle”

I swearย i wasn’t going to post this today, but when i came across this conversation while watching the first season of Castle, the TV Series, i knew I had to post it here.ย You have to read it to find out what prompted me to take up the painful task of writing all the dialogue.
For those who aren’t familiar with the characters of Castle, Castle is the male lead and Alexis is his 15 year old teenage daughter and Martha is his Mum aka Grandmother to Alexis.

Scene : Alexis trying out different dresses for prom.
Alexis : (Sighs) what do you think?
Castle : You look beautiful.
Alexis : Dad you say that about every dress. Don’t you think that this dress makes my skin look pasty?
Castle : Sweetheart, I want you to know, No matter how you think you look, you are perfect exactly the way you are.
Alexis : You’re not helping!.
Martha comes in holding another dress.
Martha : Oh, God no. Hideous!.
Alexis : Thank you! ๐Ÿ™‚
Martha : Here, Try this. You know what, Good colour for you. (Sighs)
Alexis goes in to try that other dress.
Castle : What are you doing?
Martha : What?
Castle : You look hideous!. Are you trying to give her body image issues?
Martha : Oh, News flash! She already has body image issues. Said in tunes with being a woman. Every woman in the world, has some part of herself that she absolutely hates. Her hands are too small, her feet is too big, her hair is too straight, too curly, her ears stick out, oh, god, her butt is too flat, nose is too big, and you know, nothing you can say would change how we feel. What men don’t understand is the right clothes, the right shoes, the right make up, just it hides the flaws we think we have and make us look beautiful to ourselves. That’s what make us look beautiful to others. ๐Ÿ™‚
Castle : (Long pause and thought later) Used to be, all she need to feel beautiful was a pink tutu and a plastic tiara.
Martha : We spend our whole lives trying to feel that again.
Alexis comes out wearing the other dress and both of them(Dad & Gran) are in awe.

Now, tell me. Did you like the conversation? On any normal day, i would talk endlessly about the conversation and all about how i felt and how much i loved it which obviously is the reason why i badly wanted to share it here so that it doesn’t get lost somewhere in my memory line. But today, I’m not going to do any talking. I just want to feel the beauty and sweetness in the conversation and think how true Martha’s words are. I do think she is right. What do you think? Do you like the conversation especially Martha’s words at the end? How did you feel? Do let me know. ๐Ÿ™‚ By the way, i created that cool collage. Cool or not, I had so much time at hand and lots of Castle pics on Google! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you all are doing great. Happy Friday and good bye for now. ๐Ÿ™‚
